Our University Connection, and International Students
Dear Trish:
Who is behind the O'Reilly School of Technology, the world-famous Deptartment of C.S. of the U of I at Urbana, etc. etc.?
Is a student living abroad allowed to follow the courses?
Ciao
Alan from Italy
Dear Alan:
Thanks for contacting me. Although all of our courses are written and facilitated
by us, each course is Certified and approved for CEUs--Continuing Education Units--by the
University of
Illinois Office of Continuing Education (at Urbana-Champaign). Continuing
Education courses cannot be approved without a sponsoring department, which in
our case is indeed the world-famous Computer Science Department.
We have worked closely with the University since our inception (as the company
"UserActive") in 1997, and in fact our backgrounds are from the University Math, Chemistry,
and Computer Science departments.
Because our courses are completely online and self-paced, we welcome students from
all around the globe. In fact, about 18% of our students live outside the United States.
All benefits apply to international students, including the U of I Certificates, Continuing Education
Units, and free books from O'Reilly.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thanks,
Trish
